
Vera Colligan was born May 30, 1935, and passed away September 21, 2025, at the age of 90.
She was born to the late Riley and Lottie Stanley of Starks, Louisiana in 1935.
Vera had a vibrant spirit that quickly became known to everyone around her. From an early age, she found joy in singing and dancing, often turning even the most ordinary moments into celebrations. Her voice could lift your soul, and her laughter could fill a room. Whether it was a family gathering or a spontaneous moment in the kitchen, she brought life and love to it all.
She was a gifted cook and baker, known for her delicious meals and sweet treats that made holidays and family events unforgettable. Her kitchen was always full not just with food, but with stories, laughter, and the comforting feeling of home.
More than her many talents, was her outgoing nature and kind heart that touched everyone she met. She had a way of making strangers feel like friends and friends feel like family. Her generosity, her strength, and her unwavering love for those around her will never be forgotten.
She is survived by her sons, James Wilson, and Jeffery Wilson and his wife Barbara; grandson, Pete Morris; siblings Winnie Green, Shirley Henry and Jennie Rattiff and husband Larry; and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her husbands Pete Wilson and Percy Colligan; daughter Debbie Wilson – White; and 3 sisters and 3 brothers.
Family will receive friends from 9 a.m. until the time of the service at 11 a.m., September 25, 2025, at Dorman-Riley Smith & Sons, 8808 Highway 87 North Orange, Texas. Mr. Lynn Ashcraft will be officiating. Interment to follow at Ida Wilson Cemetery, 3117 Fm – 3247 Orange, Texas 77632.
