At approximately 7:30 PM Monday evening OCESD #1 Firefighters responded to the area of HWY 105 & TEXLA for a motor vehicle accident involving an 18-wheeler and an SUV.
Full-time and volunteer members from both station 1 & 2, responded with Rescue 1, Squad 1, and Tanker 2, units arrived on scene to find an 18-wheeler carrying hazardous materials overturned in a ditch. In addition, an SUV was in the roadway with major damage. The Northbound lane of HWY 105 was closed while units on scene worked to control hazards and remove the vehicles from the road way.
Environmental hazard clean up companies were called to the scene to assist with mitigation efforts. Clean up ended at approximately 11:30pm.
Patients were transported to area hospitals. All are believed to be in stable condition at this time.
OCESD 1 was assisted by Texas Department of Public Safety, Orange County Sheriffs Office, Vidor Police Department, and multiple area Tow Companies.
