Tim James, 60, of Hemphill, Texas passed away Wednesday, September 3, 2025 at his residence.
Timothy Paul James was born to the late Arma G. James and Thomas Jefferson James on the 23rd of October 1964 in Hemphill, “Sabine County” Texas.
The family eventually moved to Orange, Texas where Tim went to public schools. Tim was a graduating member of the West Orange-Stark High School class of 1983 where he was a powerful football player and played on a State Championship Team.
Timothy “Tim” James, a man born of what he called “good stock,” passed away peacefully. Standing at 6’2″, he couldn’t wait to see how his grandsons measured up, always ready with a word of encouragement and a proud boast about their latest accomplishments. His greatest joy was found in his family.
Timothy’s love of life was evident in his passions. He cherished spending time with loved ones, whether it was on a hunting trip, over a spirited game of spades or dominoes, or simply enjoying a good home-cooked meal. He was a man of faith who loved the Lord, and a member of the Thomas Johnson Church of Christ where he used his gift to lead songs. Tim also worshipped at the Church of Christ in Many, LA with the late Brother Will Smith, Sr. He took special joy in sharing his prayers and quiet moments with his grandson, Rocket. His legacy is one of pride, encouragement, and a deep love for his family and his faith. He will be dearly missed.
Tim was preceded in death by his mother, Arma G. James and his father, Thomas Jefferson James, his brother, Steve James as well as sisters, Roberta James, Helen James, Ida James, Shelia James and brother, Thomas James, Jr.
Tim leaves to cherish his memories a loving daughter Rochelle (Jude) Simon and granddaughters; Enjolie Simon and Eaubry Simon, and grandsons; Jacob Simon, Reauman Simon and Rece Simon, one sister; Linda James, and one brother, Donnall W. James and numerous cousins and friends. He was blessed to have valued relationships with Pete Lablue, Nathaniel and Margret Moore and Vickie Thomas.
A Celebration of Life will begin at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 27, 2025 at Thomas Johnson Church of Christ, 840 Thomas Johnson Road in Hemphill with Bro. Frank L. Hamilton officiating.
