Three people were injured in a two-vehicle crash Sunday afternoon in front of Home Depot. A 47-year-old man had to be extracted from an SUV after it rolled over during the collision. Police described his injuries as non-incapacitating.
Two teenage girls in a car had minor injuries.
Orange police report the drivers of both vehicles said they had a green light and no third party witnesses were available, so no citation was issued.
The crash was at 4:20 p.m. Police said the 1995 GMC Suburban was driven by Scott William Googins of Orange. A 25-year-old man and a 21-year-old man were in the SUV and were reported not injured.
A 2014 Nissan Maxima was driven by 16-year-old Shamyra Sutton of Orange. A 15-year-old girl was a passenger.
Police said the Suburban was was northbound on Strickland and the Maxima was southbound on Strickland. The Suburban made a left turn into Home Depot and the Maxima hit the side, causing the Suburban to roll over.
Googins was taken by Acadian Ambulance to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont. Sutton and her passenger were taken by Acadian to the Southeast Texas Medical Center in Port Arthur.
