After a successful start in Double A ball this season, Bridge City’s Chase Shugart got the call up Sunday, July 3 to Worchester and did not disappoint.
In relief Sunday he threw three innings, giving up one run on one hit with two strikeouts. He retired the first seven batters he faced.
He pitched the ninth inning July 7, throwing 19 strikes out of 28 pitches. He gave up no runs on one hit with one strikeout and one walk.
Shugart started the season in Portland, posting a 2-2 record with a 3.77 ERA. He had 34K’s and only 10 walks in 31 innings pitched.
The former Cardinal and Texas Longhorn was a 12th round pick by Boston in the 2018 draft.
