Robbie Cockrell Crump passed peacefully into the arms of the Lord on July 22, 2019 after fighting the good fight. Robbie was born October 6, 1939 in Joaquin, TX as a fifth generation Texan and part of the large and loving Cockrell family. Growing up, her family settled in Orange, Texas. She attended Orange First Baptist Church and graduated from Lutcher Stark High School with her amazing group of treasured friends, the Class of ’57 Sisterhood. While in Orange, she met and married the love of her life, Richard W. Crump in 1959. Robbie and Richard moved to Houston where she was a hairstylist for over 40 years.
Robbie loved to bowl, play bridge, and enjoyed any card game with friends. She was a Silver Lake Lion and active member at Pearland First United Methodist Church for over 35 years. Her passions included art, working with children and youth, delivering biblical book reviews, singing in the choir, attending her grandchildren’s’ school and sports activities, and making everyone she met feel welcome and included. Robbie was a very active and proud grandmother and gave 100% to everything she endeavored.
Robbie is preceded in death by her husband, Richard H. Crump, her father, Tom B. Cockrell, and her mother, Odene Cockrell. She is survived by her brother, Tommy Cockrell (Dixie) of Round Rock, TX, brother, Fletcher Cockrell (Linda) from Hot Springs Village, AR, step son, James Crump (Linda) of Orange, TX, her step daughter and best friend, Donna Irwin (Jim) of Cypress, TX, her daughter, Stacie Spindle (John) of Humble, TX, along with her beloved grandchildren: Jill, Greg, Janna, Adam, Bonnie, Paul, Blake, and Emily, great grandchildren, Brandon, Krissy, Nick, Pierce, and Presley, great great grandchildren, Hannah, Haylee, and Thomas, and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Her fun loving spirit and kindness will be greatly missed by all. We rejoice in the knowledge that she has joined the community of saints in Heaven but we mourn the great loss to our family, which may only be healed in time through the mercy and grace of Jesus Christ. Her family wishes to thank her doctors and nurses for the outstanding care they gave Robbie. Her memorial service will be held at Pearland First United Methodists Church on July 30, 2019 at 2pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Pearland First United Methodist Church 2314 N. Grand Blvd. Pearland, TX 77581 or Houston Hospice 1905 Holcombe Blvd. Houston, TX 77030.
