An Orange patrol officer Tuesday night found eight pounds of marijuana and more than five ounces of cocaine in an out-of-state car stopped for traffic violations.
Two men, one from Virginia and the other from Maryland, were arrested for felony possession of marijuana plus felony possession of a controlled substance.
Officer Joshua Lemoine was on a regular patrol following eastbound Interstate traffic when he stopped a 2014 Accura about 9 p.m. by the Chevron MiniMart, 2323 Lutcher Drive off Interstate 10 eastbound. The car with Virginia license plates had violated several traffic rules, he reported.
Detective Captain Robert Enmon said Lemoine was not part of a special drug interdiction unit. “He is a patrol officer who is very good at his job,” he said.
The cocaine weighed 147 grams, which is 5.18 ounces.
25-year-old Ryan Joseph Moore of Fairplay, Maryland, and 22-year-old Zachary Barfield Keller of Chesterfield, Virginia, were arrested and taken to the Orange County Jail.
