The 17-year-old who killed Saturday afternoon was sitting in the front passenger seat of a car in an apartment complex when he was shot in the chest.
Trey Chanley Gibson died at Exceptional ER on 16th Street after the driver of the car took him straight to the emergency center.
Orange Police Detective Captain Robert Enmon said information phoned to the police department and Crimestoppers “has been extremely helpful.”
Gibson along with a 22-year-old man who was driving, and another 17-year-old male in the back seat, went to the Arthur Robinson Apartments at 605 Burton Avenue about 1 Saturday afternoon.
Enmon said Gibson has had different addresses including some in the Port Arthur area. The driver of the car, which was an older model two-tone black-and-white, is from the Orange area.
The three young men went to the apartments and drove into the fenced parking lot. They were in the car when a man came up to the window. As they were talking, the man shot Gibson and ran off.
Enmon said detectives talked with several people who were outside at the time, but got little information. The calls have helped investigators.
Anyone with information about the shooting should call the Orange Police Department at 409-883-1026, or Crimestoppers at 409-833-TIPS (8477).
