Vera Colligan was born May 30, 1935, and passed away September 21, 2025, at the age of 90. She was born to the late Riley and Lottie Stanley of Starks, Louisiana in 1935. Vera had a vibrant spirit that quickly became known to everyone around her. From an early age, she found joy in singing and dancing, often turning even the most ordinary moments into celebrations. One Dies In Fire
On September 21, 2025, at approximately 5:11PM, OCESD#1 was called for a residential structure fire in the 1500 block of Cheyenne. Upon arrival, a single wide manufactured home was observed with heavy smoke and fire conditions. Fire crews quickly extinguished the flames and during the primary search, a female was found and removed from the home and resuscitation efforts began. Jerry Isbell
Jerry Isbell of Orange County, Tx was born October 22, 1941 in Gorman, Tx to Earl and Beulah (Alexander) Isbell. He passed away at home surrounded by his loved ones on September 17, 2025 at the age of 83. Jerry retired from DuPont in 2003 after 36 years of employment. He also retired from the Army, Army Reserve, and National Guard after 23 years of service to his country. He served as Commander of VFW Post 2775 from 1981-1983. by Sheriff Colton Havard Narcotics arrest in Deweyville: On Thursday, September 18, 2025, at approximately 6:59 p.m., Deputy Brent Sonnier was on patrol near the intersection of County Road 4181 and State Highway 12 when he conducted a traffic stop on a 2003 Ford Explorer for expired registration. While speaking with the driver, Deputy Sonnier observed several indicators of possible criminal activity. Fire Damages Home Saturday
According to OCESD3 personnel on scene, they responded to a reported structure fire at 9600 Old Hwy 87 in Little Cypress Saturday just before 2pm. The first unit arrived to find a home heavily engulfed in flames. The home owner and two dogs were able to escape. One female occupant was transported to a hospital for treatment. The fire appears to have started in the garage and spread to the house. Only three of our area teams were on the field this week. Bridge City, LCM, Vidor all took the week off as they prepare for the start of district Friday. BC will host Lumberton and Vidor is at LCM.
