He was born in Orange, Texas, on October 14, 1941, to Louis Malcolm and Marion Velma Stephens. He had a very modest upbringing with few opportunities; but with grit, determination, and perseverance, he rose above great hardship to become a man who was larger than life and a hero to us all. Several Regional Track Meets were moved to Monday after Saturday's rain and Orange County is sending several athletes to the State Meet in Austin May 2-4. Vidor's Blake Richards (300H) and Raegan Stephenson (HJ). Both won Gold at the Regional Track Meet in Bullard. Richards set a personal best with a time of 39.15. The senior almost qualified in the 110 hurdles, finishing third with a PB time of 14.89. Stephenson is trying to win her THIRD Gold medal in the high jump. She cleared 5-7 as the defending champ.
