Dixson Celebrates 100 Years
JD Dixson turned 100 years old Saturday and he was given a well deserved celebration by friends and family, hosted by Robert's Steakhouse in Orange. Dixson served in World War II in the 6th Marine Division from 1943 to 1945. Before going into the Armed Forces JD work as a Taxi Cab driver in DeRidder, La. He had to get at minor’s release to drive because, he was 17 years old. He then moved to Arkansas at that young age and drove a cab there. Voters in the West Orange-Cove CISD voted to approve a $72 million bond on Saturday. The majority of the money will go towards building a new North Early Learning Center in Pinehurst near the WOS Elementary. WOC voters also passed a $25 million bond in 2018. Myrna Jo Childs, 63, of Orange, died Tuesday, April 30, 2024, at her sister’s home, surrounded by her family, after a long illness. She was born on August 17, 1960, in Malvern, Arkansas, to Alene Nutt Jones and Bill Jones. Her family relocated to Southeast Texas when she was 6 years old.
