Voters in the West Orange-Cove CISD voted to approve a $72 million bond on Saturday. The majority of the money will go towards building a new North Early Learning Center in Pinehurst near the WOS Elementary. WOC voters also passed a $25 million bond in 2018.
“The Board of Trustees and I are humbled by the trust placed in us by the voters of West Orange-Cove CISD,” stated Dr. Rickie Harris, Superintendent of West Orange-Cove CISD. “Your endorsement not only validates our efforts but also your dedication to the well-being and education of our children.”
With the approval of the bond proposition, the district pledges to uphold its commitment to fiscal responsibility and transparency. Every dollar will be meticulously managed to ensure the successful execution of construction projects aimed at enhancing the learning environment for students.
As the district embarks on this transformative journey, it looks forward to continued collaboration with the community to shape a brighter future for generations to come. Again, thank you for your trust and support.
Meantime in Newton County, Deweyville voters turned down a $47 million bond that would’ve built a middle school campus. Currently they attend school in the same building as high school kids. It was voted down 348 votes to 130.
LaJuan Addison, Superintendent of Deweyville ISD said, “The community has spoken. It is not the message we had hoped for, but you have our pledge that Deweyville ISD will continue to provide a high-quality education for our students. Our facility challenges will not disappear, and the Board of Trustees and I will reconvene to determine the best way to address these issues. Thank you for making your voice heard.”
