A 62-year-old man from Orange posted a $50,000 bond to be released from jail after he was indicted for the felony charge of continuous sexual abuse of a child. Orange County District Attorney said the Eugene Quebodeaux was indicted last week by a grand jury. The charge is for incidents that happened to someone younger than 14 years of age. The encounters had to occur longer than a 30-day period. The charge is a first degree state felony with a punishment of 25 to 99 years in prison or up to a life sentence. Orange Council Extends Water Lines
The Orange City Council and the city's Economic Development Corporation voted to spend $658,000 in economic development money to extend water and sewer lines on West Allie Payne Road to White Oak Road. City Economic Development Director Jay Trahan said the extension of city services is the first phase of a long-term plan to take water and sewer lines all the way west along Allie Payne Road to Martin Luther King Jr. Drive. Home remodeling projects are popular in Orange this summer, according to building permits issued in May by the City of Orange. Seven permits for residential remodeling were issued for a total of $201,675. The projects include one in the Lindenwood subdivision valued at $65,000, another $65,000 project in the Woodmont addition, a $25,000 bathroom remodeling in the Hillbrook subdivision, and a $25,000 refurbishing in the 1200 block of Link Avenue. Local Biz Making Bunker Barge
Conrad Orange Shipyard will be building the first Liquid Natural Gas (LNG) bunker barge for the marine industry in North America. The owner of the barge is WesPac Midstream LLC, along with its affiliate Clean Marine Energy LLC. The local shipyard is on Market Street along the Sabine River south of the Orange County Courthouse and has about 300 employees. The barge will be able to transport LNG and will hold 2,200 cubic meters. On Wednesday, March 4, 2015, around 9:20 p.m., an Orange County Sheriff’s Office Deputy was on patrol in the area of FM 1131 and Claire Road when he observed a white Chevy Avalanche commit several traffic violations. The vehicle was stopped by the Deputy near Lake View Cutoff Rd and FM 1131. During the traffic stop, the Deputy searched the vehicle and found a loaded handgun in the driver side door panel, along with methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia inside the vehicle. Bridge City police Wednesday arrested an Evadale man suspected of being "Old Navy robber." The nickname was given because he wore an Old Navy hoodie sweatshirt during the hold-ups. Bridge City police report the hoodie man robbed the Valero station on Texas Avenue on Saturday night. The same robber is also suspected of robbing the Kwick Stop store on Strickland Drive in Pinehurst last Friday morning and Saturday night.
