A colorful stained-glass window of Jesus with opened arms welcomes people to services at First Christian Church in Orange. But members of the church didn't always have such artwork for worship. Back in 1885, when Orange was a small village and the church organized, members were baptized in the Sabine River. From that simple beginning, First Christian has lasted through storms, wars and even a fire. Update on Dollar Tree Fire
Fire fighters from four volunteer departments responded quickly and contained a fire to one store in the Pinehurst shopping center on Strickland Drive Wednesday morning. Pinehurst Fire Chief Shon Branham said the call came in at 7:13 Wednesday morning, and he was on the scene at the Dollar Tree store within five minutes. The road to the post season for the Bridge City Cardinals took a detour last week at Jasper as the Bulldogs pulled out a heart stopping 48-47 comeback win against the Cardinals. Bridge City Coach Dwayne DuBois believes the Cardinals will comeback from the loss, and they must do it quickly with the Little Cypress-Mauriceville Bears the opponent this Friday. Newly‐formed GetDaNet Fishing Club held it first tournament Saturday, October 10, 2015 at Toledo Bend Reservoir. A heavy cloud cover and a front line to the east threatened rain, but blew away to the west quickly. Despite an east wind, the weather turned out beautiful for a day on the water; but the early front wreaked havoc on some of the fishing efforts. Michael Harlan Knox, 69, of Orange passed away on Tuesday, October 13, 2015 at Harbor Hospice in Beaumont. Mike was born on April 8, 1946 in Livingston, Texas to parents Iva Agnes (Kee) and Harlan Lee Knox.
