The Commissioners Court will consider issuing a resolution Tuesday regarding a new tollway of approximately 10 miles extending from the intersection of State Highway 105 and U. S. Highway 69 in Beaumont eastward to the intersection of FM 105 and Interstate 10 in Vidor. The 105 Tollway would include the installation of a new elevated crossing of the Neches River and would be a shorter route from Orange County to the north Beaumont area with considerably less traffic expected. Brady was born on August 1, 1936 in Lufkin, Texas to parents Mary Ann (Crain) and Marshall Burgess. He had lived 50 years in the Mid-Jefferson County area. 16 Firefighters Resign
A volunteer firefighter for the Mauriceville-McLewis fire department said Friday morning that 16 members of the department have resigned. Richard Jones said he submitted a resignation list with the signatures of the volunteers to the office of Emergency Services District No. 4. The ESD 4 collects property taxes for the volunteer fire department. The ESD 4 board of directors, appointed by Orange County Commissioners Court, oversees the department operations. The West Orange – Cove CISD District-wide PTA held a “Golden Apple Award Winner” luncheon for the West Orange - Stark Academic Alternative Center this week. The campus reported 100 percent of school staff members have joined the WOCCISD District-wide PTA for the 2015-2016 school year. Local volunteer and professional firefighters Aaron McNeil, Daniel Eaves and Joe Pelaez demonstrated and provided hands on experiences with the fire trucks and equipment recently at Orangefield High School. The men presented during Ms. Bridget Trawhon’s professional communications and Mr. Kevin Credeur’s choir classes. The purpose of the visit was to discuss fire prevention, recruit volunteers, promote career opportunities, and enforce Texas Safe Schools Week. Down by seven at the half the Bridge City Cardinals made a few adjustments and in the second half scored 28 points, 21 in the third quarter, to hand the high flying Falcons their first loss in district and into a second place tie with BC and Silsbee at 3-1.
