The City Council in Bridge City awarded the contract Tuesday for construction of the new police station. There were six bidders and the low bid of $603,050 was from TMCI owned by James Stone which was awarded the contract. The City Council awarded 5-T Utilities the contract for installing 10-inch water lines between FM 408 and FM 1442 for a bid of $366,740.25. C & R was the lone bidder for performing sludge management for the Bridge City sewer treatment plant. The Commissioners Court heard complaints, but also compliments of the Board of Directors for the Emergency Services District Number 4 during the court session Tuesday. Justin Lee requested to speak to the Commissioners, and saying he spoke for several other first responders in ESD#4 asked for the dismissal of Board Members Spencer Fuss and David Jones. DWI At Crime Scene
A 62-year-old man from Orange was arrested for DWI Monday night after he crossed a road block on MacArthur Drive during the investigation of a double fatality. Officer Patrick McDonald reported that two firefighters wearing reflective vests and holding flashlights were re-directing the traffic. A fire engine and two police patrol vehicles with flashing lights were set up to block traffic. A pickup truck disregarded the firefighters and traveled between the parked emergency vehicles. The Orangefield Lady Bobcats saw their season end Tuesday in Kountze, losing their bidistrict round match to Tarkington 25-15, 26-24, 25-11. The LCM Lady Bears played Huffman in the second game of a doubleheader, and were swept by the Falcons 25-20, 28-26, 25-14. The WOSMS Stallions wrapped up their football season with 2 wins over Mauriceville Tuesday night. The 7th grade team won by a score of 38-8 to finish the season at 7-1. Patrick Mickey would lead the Stallions on offense with a rushing touchdown, punt return for a touchdown and catch a touchdown pass from Jerren Terrell for this third TD. Roy Euper of Lufkin caught the first Toyota ShareLunker of the season from Sam Rayburn Reservoir Monday afternoon. The fish weighed 13.2 pounds, qualifying it to become ShareLunker 564. Any angler who catches a 13-pound largemouth bass can be considered lucky, but Euper may be the luckiest of all. The official weight for the fish was taken at Jackson Hill Park Marina, an official Toyota ShareLunker weigh and holding station. The two victims in Mondays' accident on MacArthur Drive have been identified as Ava Nicole Lewis 25, and Lamya Janise Newhouse 6. As of 11am police have not identified the driver of the vehicle. At approximately 8:00pm Orange Police and Fire responded to an Auto/Pedestrian accident in front of the Dominos Pizza location on MacArthur Drive.
