The Lady Bear Golf team placed second at the Anahuac Golf tournament held at Chambers County Golf Course. Senior Lauren Cox shot 71 (two under par) to take first place medalist. The team shot 385. Students Create Murals
Students at Little Cypress Intermediate School are working on murals that will be displayed at both the Stark Museum of Art and the Shangri La Botanical Gardens. The David Rogers’ Big Bugs exhibition is coming to the Stark Cultural Venues in March. To get people excited about the exhibition the Stark Museum chose four local schools including Little Cypress Intermediate to paint murals depicting big bugs with holes cut out to allow people to stick their heads for photo opportunities. The NFL has been celebrating the 50th year of the Super Bowl this year, culminating with the Super Bowl on Feb. 7. Part of the celebration is that the league has sent commemorative footballs to every high school that has produced a Super Bowl player or head coach. On Jan. 30, Officer S. Ackley of the Pinehurst Police Department conducted a traffic stop in the 3400 block of Lancelot Drive. The driver, Mitchell James, 30, was arrested for possession of a controlled when a crystal-like substance, suspected of being methamphetamine was seized along with distribution contraband. The traffic stop was part of an ongoing investigation of methamphetamine distribution between the Pinehurst Police Department and Orange County Precinct 2 Constable David Cagle. On Wednesday, February 03, 2016, at 12:47am, Officers with the City of Orange Police Department were dispatched to 7411 IH-10, The Country Store, in reference to an Aggravated Robbery. Upon officers’ arrival, officers made contact with witnesses and the store employees. The suspects were identified as two black males and a white male who were wearing “hoodie” style shirts. More information is needed from developers of a proposed housing addition in Bridge City before the City Council will give its approval. Robbye Meyer with Arx Advantage made a presentation to the City Council for the second meeting in a row with her partner Cliff Bates of the Park Companies on a cell phone describing a single family affordable housing addition with 55 units.
