Students at Little Cypress Intermediate School are working on murals that will be displayed at both the Stark Museum of Art and the Shangri La Botanical Gardens. The David Rogers’ Big Bugs exhibition is coming to the Stark Cultural Venues in March. To get people excited about the exhibition the Stark Museum chose four local schools including Little Cypress Intermediate to paint murals depicting big bugs with holes cut out to allow people to stick their heads for photo opportunities. Ann Marie Ventura the Educator of Studio and Outreach with the museum gave first hand instruction with other volunteers to the fourth and fifth grade students in painting the murals. Two of the murals will be displayed at the Stark Museum and the other two murals will be at Shangri La. David Rogers’ Big Bugs sculptures open for viewing at Shangri La on March 5 with a special preview for Stark Cultural Venue members on March 4. Bugs is a companion series of four mini-exhibitions to explore the world of bugs and insects that will be at the Stark Museum from March 5 to May 28.
