Orange police arrested 45-year-old identical twin brothers passed out in a car with the engine running on Highway 87 Saturday afternoon. The driver was arrested for driving while intoxicated and the passenger was arrested for public intoxication. Police report they received a 9-1-1 call at 1:04 p.m. about a possible driver being intoxicated and traveling northbound near North Orange Baptist Church. LCM Academic Team Wins District
For the second year straight, Little Cypress-Mauriceville High School has claimed the District title in the Spring Academic Meet. Their total score of 459 points put them 121 points ahead of second place winner, Bridge City. Orangefield was third with 273. The first six places are recognized in each category. Travel Center Reopens
Monday morning the Texas Travel Information Center in Orange reopened to the public. Sarah Dupre with the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) reported the state run travel information center on Interstate 10 opened to visitors at about 10:30 AM Monday after being closed to the public because of flooding from the Sabine River since March 13. TxDOT re-opened the parking lot to motorists from Interstate 10 on Saturday. The picnic arbors were available for use. Austin Moore competed at the THSPA State Championship on Saturday in Abilene and finished 2nd in the 198 pound classification. Austin totaled 1605 lbs with a squat of 610 lbs, bench 405 lbs, and deadlift of 590 lbs. He was edged out by Abram Ramirez from Rio Hondo. Orangefield Athletic Director Josh Smalley presented LSU Assistant Coach Bradley Dale Peveto with the Southeast Texas HS Coaches Association, Hall of Honor ring in honor of his dad.
