At approximately 7:30a.m, the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) received a report of a multiple vehicle crash on Interstate 10 in Orange County. The crash involved six (6) vehicles and occurred in the westbound traffic lanes near Boomtown in Vidor. Due to the normal early morning work traffic on Interstate 10, many of the vehicles traveling westbound were moving slow or were stopped. Woman Arrested For Stabbing
The woman arrested for stabbing the father of her month-old baby told police he pushed his way in her apartment and started hitting her. She also told police she had earlier filed a complaint to get a no trespassing order against the man for her public housing apartment on Cove Drive. The stabbing was in self defense, she said. 25-year-old Ktroya Jaquil has been arrested for family violence-aggravated assault in connection with the early morning stabbing Wednesday. Orange Getting New Water Tower
Orange will be installing a new water storage tower and building a water plant on the south side of Interstate 10 east of Highway 62. The tank will be decorated with a new logo the council chose. Plus the tank will have LED lights "so at night it will really pop," said Public Works Director Jim Wolf. The Orange City Council Tuesday night agreed to accept a donation of about a half acre of land from Houseman Development for the tower, well and plant. Council Votes For New Display
Downtown Orange will be getting new Nativity scenes the year after one was removed because of atheists. Tuesday, Orange County Commissioners Court voted to buy a $560 Nativity scene to replace one that was 20 to 30 years old. The new one will be 4-feet-2-inches tall and made of colored plastic. It will include baby Jesus, Joseph and Mary, along with the three wise men, shepherds, sheep, a donkey and a camel. The display will be on the front lawn of the courthouse. Driver Beaten and Robbed
Orange police are investigating an armed robbery of a man who gave two others a ride and they stole his money. Detective Captain Robert Enmon said the victim was also beaten, but the injuries were not serious. The man called police about 9:30 p.m. from 16th Street at MacArthur Drive. He told officers he went to the apartment complex at 111 Pine Avenue about 7:30 p.m. to meet a man he knows. When the victim arrived, the man he knows another man was also there. A thrilling victory last week by Bridge City over Silsbee has the Cardinals still undefeated in district. Coach Dwayne DuBois thinks Bridge City can build on the win last week. DuBois admits the players can walk a little taller after a win over a quality team like Silsbee. Senior Night For Bears
A week ago the Little Cypress-Mauriceville Bears appeared to be on the outside looking in at the District 10-4A playoff picture. Now after a solid win over Huffman, the Bears are right in the middle of the playoff draw. Coach Randy Crouch is proud of his players and coaches.
