Interstate 10 eastbound opened early Sunday and 16th Street at the I-10 overpass opened Sunday afternoon, both ahead of their scheduled reopening Monday morning. The two areas were closed on Friday as the I-10 project began placing new beams for the overpass. Westbound traffic was down to one lane and eastbound traffic was diverted to the service road. On March 30th, Bridge City Middle School hosted the Girls District Track Meet. This district meet determined the overall standing of each individual participant s well as school ranking. UIL One Act Play is the largest theatre contest of its kind in the world. 1,200 schools across the state of Texas enter, and 175 of them are in the 4A classification. On April 1st, Bridge City High School's production of "These Shining Lives" received first place at their Area contest. DV’s Waldrum Receives Reaud Award
Longtime Deweyville instructor Joe Waldrum has been selected to receive a 2017 Wayne A. Reaud Excellence in Education Award. Waldrum has been with the Deweyville Independent School District for 35 years. Waldrum founded the high school’s student council in 1986 and continues to sponsor it. Waldrum has about 150 students in his classes at Deweyville Junior High and High School campus for courses that cover several agricultural, horticultural, and animal science topics.
