Local Attorney Kidnapped
Local attorney Jim Sharon Bearden, Jr. told the Orange County Sheriff's Dept. that he was kidnapped Monday morning around 10am at his home near Bridge City. He was taken by vehicle to a bank in Port Arthur and forced to withdraw money before he was released unharmed. Bearden practices law with his father in Orange. Detectives are still working the case. Pinehurst Makes Another Meth Bust
Pinehurst Police Chief Fred Hanauer said another person has been found with methamphetamine. Pinehurst officers about 10:48 a.m. Monday confiscated meth, he said, but the investigation is in progress and charges are pending. He said the methamphetamine was found after police were called to investigate "suspicious activity in the 1200 block of 28th Street," which runs off MacArthur Drive by MacArthur Shopping Center. One Dead In Crash Monday
At approximately 12:00p.m., the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) received a report of a multiple vehicle crash on Highway 62 near FM 1130 in Orange County. DPS confirms that 49- year old Celso Perez of Orange was the driver of the Chevrolet pickup truck that collided head on with the 18-wheeler on Highway 62 in Orange County.
