The Deweyville Lady Pirates were 3-3 at the Anahuac Tournament over the weekend. They lost to Orangefield 2-0 despite 9K's from Baylee Smith. They defeated Kelly 10-0 as Smith and Brooklyn Williams combined on a no-hitter. Williams also had 2 hits in the game. They lost a close one to Anahuac 3-2. Smith had 10K's but the Lady Pirates only had two hits. Smith struck out 9 as they beat Cleveland 3-1. Emilee Meyers was 1-2 with 2RBI's. DV beat Woodville 6-4. Members of the Orangefield HOSA - Future Health Professional student organization at OHS collected items to distribute to residents at Oakwood Manor in Vidor. Lady Cards Beat Wheatley
The Bridge City Lady Cards are moving on to the third round of the 4AD2 Playoffs after a 44-32 win over the Houston Wheatley Wildcats. BC (33-3) lead throughout the game and started to pull away in the second half with a double digit lead. Wheatley (22-3) would test the nerves by cutting the lead to single digits twice in the fourth but the Lady Cards held them off for the win at The Barn at Hamshire-Fannett HS. Last night LCM Bear Iron competed in their final local meet before regionals at the West Orange - Stark powerlifting meet. Both Bear Iron and Lady Bear teams performed very well with multiple PR's being set, which in turn resulted in them both winning the boy's and girl's divisions. An Orange, Texas, man has been sentenced for a federal firearms violation in the Eastern District of Texas, announced Acting U.S. Attorney Abe McGlothin, Jr. today.
