A man burning debris outside lost his home and vehicle after the fire got away from him because of the dry conditions.
The fire happened in the 4200 block of Buccaneer Street in Vidor. Orange County ESD 1 responded and received assistance from ESD4.
The homeowner suffered burns on his hands trying to extinguish the fire. He was transported to a Beaumont hospital.
Chief Robert Smith said although we’re not under a burn ban citizens should refrain from burning outside at this time.
