Saturday afternoon Orange Firefighters were called to 302 N. Farragut for a house fire.
First responders were able to tap the fire out before the home was considered a total loss.
A young man staying with his grandfather, James Degay, said an extension cord on a fan caught fire and he tried to smother it with a blanket and suffered second degree burns on his hands. He said the fire got out of control when the blanket caught fire so he got his grandfather and his wheelchair out of the home and called 911.
