On September 21, 2025, at approximately 5:11PM, OCESD#1 was called for a residential structure fire in the 1500 block of Cheyenne. Upon arrival, a single wide manufactured home was observed with heavy smoke and fire conditions. Fire crews quickly extinguished the flames and during the primary search, a female was found and removed from the home and resuscitation efforts began. Unfortunately the victim passed away despite the efforts.
The fire is under investigation. OCESD#4 also provided assistance.
OCESD#1 would like to remind all citizens and visitors that once you are able to escape from a structure fire, please stay outside and do not re-enter the structure. Also make sure that you have working smoke detectors in your homes. Early warning in fire incidents will provide the best chance of getting out of a burning structure.
