On October 16, 2026, at approximately 12:30 p.m., Jasper County Deputy Tipton was dispatched to a burglary in progress at a residence in the 42000 block of U.S. Highway 96 South in Evadale.
The property owner told dispatchers she had seen someone at the residence through her video camera system. Upon arrival, Deputy Tipton encountered a male exiting the residence while carrying items stolen from the property.
Further investigation indicated that at least one building on the property had been burglarized.
Jacob Viator, 28, of Vidor, was arrested and charged with Burglary of a Building, a State Jail Felony.
Viator is innocent unless proven guilty in court of law.
