Newton County Sheriffs Report
by Sheriff Billy Rowles
I would like to start off by saying thanks to everyone that helped with the fish fry held last Friday for Deputy Lewis “Sonny” White. Sonny is in the hospital in Beaumont but doing better.
Received a 911 call about drowning at Backwoods Beach on Saturday. Special thanks to Trout Creek Fire, our Game Wardens and our Deputies. Game Wardens Spacek and Maupin located the victim about 2 hours after we got the call. Please remember the Devonta Jones family in your prayers.
There’s a scam going around. People are selling something and someone wanting to buy it sends a check for lots more than the asking price. They want you to cash the large check and send them the left-over money. DON’T DO IT. IT’S A SCAM. If it sounds too good to be true, stay away from it.
We received a call where someone stole a man’s septic tank cover. Any information on this would be appreciated.
Lot of dog complaints this past week. Please be a responsible pet owner. Feed-em, Love-em, and keep-um on our property.
Gotta go. Thought for the week: By the time a man realizes that his father was right, he has a son who thinks he’s wrong. Ya’ll have a good week and if we can help, just holler. God Bless
