Shooting:
On Thursday, April 10, 2025, deputies with the Newton County Sheriff’s Office responded to a shooting in the 1100 block of County Road 4076 in the Bon Wier community. Deputies immediately detained the suspect and began their investigation. The preliminary investigation revealed the incident stemmed from a case of family violence between a father and son. This case is currently still under investigation.
National Telecommunicators Week:
April 13–19 is National Telecommunicators Week. It’s a great privilege to have such a dedicated team of
telecommunicators here at the Newton County Sheriff’s Office. We appreciate all that you do!
Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon Arrest in Deweyville:
On Friday, April 11, 2025, at 10:09 p.m., deputies with the Newton County Sheriff’s Office responded to a
disturbance involving a firearm at Stuckey’s Convenience Store. Deputies arrived on scene and investigated, which resulted in the arrest of Gloria Badeaux. She was booked into the Newton County Jail for Public Intoxication and Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon. Great job to all involved!
Deputies locate Narcotics on Deweyville Suspect:
During the early morning hours, a Newton County Sheriff’s Deputy was patrolling County Road 4191. When the deputy attempted to conduct a traffic stop, the driver of the vehicle turned the headlights off and fled from the deputy. The deputy was able to stop the vehicle in Orange County. While deputies were searching the vehicle, they located a substance, believed to be methamphetamine that had been dumped into a fountain drink inside of the vehicle. Suspect went to Orange County Jail.
Calls for Service:
We answered 47 calls for service this week and booked 3 individuals into the Newton County Jail. We currently have 22 inmates housed in the following facilities: 2 in Beauregard Parish, 8 in Jasper, and 12 in Newton.
