It is with great honor that I sit down and write my first sheriff’s report. First, I want to thank the community for having the confidence and trust in me to lead this organization.
It’s been a busy first week around the Sheriff’s Office as we begin to make adjustments and get settled in. We have a great group of men and women that are eager to serve the citizens of Newton County.
We recovered a burned stolen vehicle off County Road 4101 in the Trout Creek area on Wednesday. Thursday night we had two twelve-year-old girls lost in the woods off Sheppard Road. With the help of the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office aircraft section, the Newton Police Department, and a great group of local citizens, we were able to locate the kids and return them safely to their parents in the wee hours Friday morning. I would also like to remind everyone the coldest time of the year is upon us. Please make sure your animals are kept warm and have food and water.
We have 18 in jail this morning: 10 in Newton, 7 in Beauregard and 3 in Jasper. If we can be of assistance, please don’t hesitate to reach out to the Newton County Sheriff’s Office at 409-379-3636, or you can call me personally at 409-289-6294.
I hope everyone has a good week and remember; either you run the day, or the day runs you.
