
Nellie Riene Hubbard, 100, of West Orange, Texas, passed away on December 10, 2025.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, December 15, 2025, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange. Burial will follow at Orange Forest Lawn Cemetery in West Orange.
Visitation will begin prior to the service at 1:00 p.m., Monday, December 15, 2025, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.
Born on October 7, 1926, in Iota, Louisiana to Marie and Fadius Caswell. Nellie cared for children in her home. Her first job was at Moreau’s Drug Store in Vinton, Louisiana. Volunteered at the Orange Credit Union and worked for TSO. Nellie enjoyed volunteering at the Texas Department of Human Resources and at St. Mary’s Soup Kitchen. She taught crochet for many years at DERA. She later worked for Dr. Robert Ingram and Dr. Achyutanda Roy for 20 years. Nellie was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church for 78 years and of the Catholic Daughters of Americas of Court Saint Ceclia #1396. She was avid cook and loved to bake, often taking treats to her Pastor, Deacon, Doctor, Dentist, and Tellers. Nellie was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother and she will be deeply missed by all.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Marie and Fadius Caswell; brother, Curry Caswell and wife Lorena; sisters, Ita Rose Caswell, Elda Mitchell and husband J.O., Ella Mae Montgomery and husband Francis, June Carruthers and husband Clint; brother, James Ray Caswell, Jr.; nephew, Ronald Gene Caswell and wife Glory; great nephews, Chris Gafford and Cody Silverman; niece, Sheila Brown; and her husbands, Fred Hubbard, Thomas Landry, and Richard (Dick) Zerbe.
She is survived by her daughter, Pamela Rieve and husband Ken of Liberty; son, Fred M. Hubbard and wife Sharon of Houston; grandson, Chris Rieve and wife Misty of Lumberton; granddaughter, Cynthia R. Trainer and husband Scott of Austin; great granddaughters, Stella Rieve and Carley Trainer; great grandsons, Rieve Trainer, Maxx Aucoin, and Riley Miller; and by the Thomas Landry Family.
