Deweyville school students will have their first day of classes today for the new school year.
Deweyville and other districts in Orange County were supposed to start the day Tropical Storm Harvey began dropping rain on the county. After flooding, the schools have been closed for repairs and to allow families to recover.
West Orange-Cove and Vidor districts will start classes on Tuesday. Vidor has had to move students to different campuses because of damage to the Oak Forest Elementary and Vidor Middle schools.
Little Cypress-Mauriceville students will start on Wednesday. That district, too, is moving some students to new sites because of damage to campuses.
The Orangefield district, which had damage to the high school and elementary school, is starting classes next Monday, September 25.
The Bridge City district was the only one in the county to begin classes early. Students there went back last week.
