
Orangefield Superintendent Dr. Shaun McAlpin follows LCMCISD Supt. Stacey Brister as the new Chairman of the Board of the Greater Orange Area Chamber of Commerce during the Annual Banquet held Thursday at the Shahan Center on the campus of Lamar State College Orange.
McAlpin’s slogan for the year is “Be a Part of Our Future.” He also presented Brister with her own gavel as a new member of the Past President’s Council. McAlpin introduced his Executive Board and they include Amy Peevey, Zach Johnson, Megan Layne, Ashla Taylor, Dr. Wendy Elmore, Judge John Gothia, Joe Love and Brister.

Colton Baker replaces Derek McWilliams as the Ambassador Chairman. McWilliams announced Charlee Fitzgerald as his choice for Ambassador of the Year.


The Next Generation Spotlight Award was presented to Alison Clary by Fitzgerald.

Councilwoman Mary McKenna presented the Non-Profit Business of the Year Award to Rita Monson and her team at Friends Helping Friends.

Sherry Hommel was presented the Community Business Award by Robert Currie.

Brister nominated Megan Layne as her choice for Board Chairperson of the Year.

The final award for Citizen of the Year was presented by Maureen McAllister. The award was given to local business owner and city councilman Brad Childs.
Pastor Matt Chandler of Life Church provided the Invocation and Benediction. Gary Stelly of KOGT was the emcee. The food was prepared by Old Orange Cafe.
