Born in Sulphur, Louisiana, on July 7, 1977, she was the daughter of Barry Pruitt and Deborah (Henry) Dugas. Mailakei was a beautiful, sweet spirit who selflessly sacrificed every day for the elevation and betterment of her family and friends. She lived with a bright and infectious smile that shined to the world and had a heart of pure agape love. Mailakei loved Jesus; whether she was in the kitchen with praise and worship music on or now in Heaven you could always find her worshipping Jesus from her heart with her hands raised high. She enjoyed hanging out with family and friends and was an excellent cook. Mailakei and her husband, Kenneth, were lifelong members of Harvest Church of SETX in Jasper and recently joined Community Church. She was a wonderful wife and mother to her son, Levi, and left an impact on many lives. Mailakei will be profoundly missed by those who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her father, Barry Pruitt; and grandparents.
She is survived by her loving husband and high school sweetheart, Kenneth LaVergne; son, Levi Joseph LaVergne; mother, Deborah Dugas; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Patsy and Brian McCosh; nieces and nephews, Olivia Pruitt, Carter Pruitt, Joshua Pruitt, Andre Pruitt, Darren LaVergne, Maggie LaVergne, and Landon Thompson; siblings, Colby Pruitt and wife Tiffany and Ashley Pruitt; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jimmy LaVergne and wife Julie; as well as numerous other loving family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
