Louis Franklin Holden, 81, of Vidor, Texas, passed away on Friday, October 23, 2026, at Harbor Hospice House in Beaumont. A native of Vidor, Louis was a lifelong resident of the community he loved and called home.
Louis proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps from 1965 to 1967 during the Vietnam Conflict. Following his military service, he dedicated many years to his career as a meat cutter, working at Wood’s Supermarket for 20 years and spending a total of 50 years in the industry. Through the years, Louis became known for his kind heart and the warmth he shared with those around him. He was the kind of person who made others feel welcome, and his genuine kindness left a lasting impression on the people fortunate enough to know him.
Louis enjoyed the simple pleasures that made life special. He loved attending antique car shows, going to the annual Christmas tree lighting, and trying his luck with scratch-off tickets and slot machine games on his laptop. A devoted Dallas Cowboys fan, he enjoyed cheering on his favorite team and listening to Cajun music. Whether enjoying one of his favorite pastimes or spending time with family and friends, Louis found happiness in the little things and treasured the moments that brought people together.
Above all, Louis will be remembered for his kind and caring spirit, his love for his family, and the many memories he created throughout his life. His presence brought comfort and happiness to those around him, and his absence will be deeply felt by all who loved him. Though his family and friends must now say goodbye, the love he shared and the memories he leaves behind will forever hold a special place in their hearts.
Louis is survived by his loving wife of 15 years, Patricia Williams of Vidor, with whom he shared 30 years together; his daughters, Amber Eileen Wolfe and her husband, James, of Mauriceville, and Joyce Louise Henry of Orange; his stepchildren, Louis Dougharty and Adora of New Caney, Dana Dougharty of Vidor, Kevin Merritt and David of Spring, and Gwen Morgan and Darrin of Vidor; and his brother, Terry Joe Holden and his wife, Judy, of Huntsville.
He is also survived by his five grandchildren, Isaiah Louis Owen Barfield, Jaden Inez Holden, Xena Elvira Ambre Wolfe, Jeread Lee James Wolfe, and Kyle William Ray Holden; eight step-grandchildren; his great-grandson, Atlas Louis Owen Barfield; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends who will cherish his memory.
He was preceded in death by his beloved granddaughter, Jamie Kasandera Ellen Wolfe.
Louis will be dearly missed, but the love he gave, the kindness he showed, and the memories he created will live on in the hearts of those who knew him. His life was a reminder that it is often the simplest joys and the kindness we share with others that leave the most lasting legacy.
