Linda “Sue” Harvey Smith, 72, passed away on February 16, 2024, in Beaumont, Texas, surrounded by family and friends.
She was born on October 8, 1951, in DeRidder, LA, to Millard E. Harvey and Mary E. Jordan. Sue attended Burkeville ISD. She later pursued a fulfilling career as a hair stylist, serving the community of Newton, TX, then moved to Vidor, TX, where she completed her career and retired. Outside of her career, Sue adored her children and grandchildren. In the past years, she loved to crochet, play golf, fish, bowl, eat crab and crawfish, and spend time with her loving husband, Jimmy, and her family. Sue was blessed with many great friends and extended family throughout the years. Her grandchildren lovingly referred to her as Nanny, and she truly cherished each and every one of them. Sue was a member of Turning Point Church in Vidor, TX, where she was baptized in 2015. Sue was a beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend.
She is survived by her spouse, Jimmy Smith of Vidor; brother, David Harvey of Burkeville; sisters Glinda Hussey of Orange, TX, and Tassie Harvey of Burkeville, TX; daughter Tammy Jones and husband David of Orange, TX; son Timothy Broesche of Superior, WI; Seven grandchildren – Whitney, Kyndal, Dalan, Katelyn Suzann, Alex, Luke, & David; and four great-grandchildren – Easton, Alyssa, Eva, and Fisher. Bonus children Angie Crittenden and husband Tommy of Sugarland, TX; Melanie Stark and husband Keith of Lumberton, TX; Ashlee Paul and husband Luke of Vidor, TX; Kevin Smith and Vicki of Huffman, TX; Chad Smith of Woodville, TX; Jimmy Smith and Keri of Atascocita, TX; 19 bonus grandchildren Devin, Savannah, Keith, Kody, Kameron, Karli, Tyler, Caleb, Bailey, Christopher, CJ, Kimberly, Kiernan, Chadwick, Bentley, Easton, Parker, Tanner, & Dawson, nine bonus great-grandchildren Kody Jr., Kambrie, Bradley, Dalton, Lynlie, Arianni, Giovann, Hudson, & Carmen.
Sue was preceded in death by her father, Millard E. Harvey; mother, Mary E. Jordan; Sister-in-law, Patrica Harvey; brother-in-law, Jerry Hussey; stepbrother, Michael Northern; bonus great-grandson, Tripp Stark.
Services to honor Sue’s life will take place at Turning Point Church in Vidor, TX, on Tuesday, March 5 at 11 AM. Memorial Funeral Home in Vidor, TX, is assisting the family with the arrangements during this difficult time. Sue will be dearly missed by all who knew her, and her memory will live on in the hearts of those she touched.
