Leila Ruth West was born May 23, 1959, and went to be with the Lord on March 11, 2026 at 5:01 p.m., surrounded be family at Baptist Hospital in Beaumont, Texas.
Leila was a devoted caregiver and retired four years ago. She loved spending time with her family, going to the beach, taking cruises, and tending to her garden, where she grew vegetables and flowers. She also enjoyed going to lunch with friends, and she had so very many.
Her closest friend of all was her little dog, Bojangles, whom she loved and adored. They spent many peaceful moments together sitting and watching the birds and squirrels.
Leila will be missed so dearly by all who knew and loved her.
She leaves behind two sons, Bobby Shute and wife Catherine of Orange, Texas, and Blake Shute and wife Tish; She is also survived by her four granddaughters, Jolie, Bailey, Berkley, and Lily, whom she loved dearly, and was always so proud of. Leila is also survived by her siblings, Wiley and Kathleen West of Bridge City, Texas, Jane Campbell of Orange, Texas, and Mary West of Orange, Texas.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Wilburn and Doris West.
Celebration of life will be held at 12:00 p.m., Saturday, March 21, 2026, at the home of Blake and Tish Shute for family and friends. Cremation was entrusted to Dorman-Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home.
