Kingdom Zoo Wildlife Day Coming to Pinehurst Sat. May 19
The Kingdom Zoo Wildlife Center will host “Kingdom Zoo Wildlife Day” from 10 a.m. till 2 p.m. Sat. May 19 at West Park on West Park Ave. in Pinehurst (near Robert’s Meat Market).
This free event will offer an opportunity for kids and kids at heart to get a unique look at wildlife conservation.
“The day will connect kids with conservation. They will get to learn about animals from around the world along with some of the struggles they face and get to encounter some firsthand,” said Kingdom Zoo Wildlife Center founder Chester Moore.
There will be one table set up to see rare and unusual Africa wildlife species. Another will feature Australian animals and yet another from the Americas. There will also be opportunities to hand feed giant tortoise and get photo ops with a variety of animals.
“It will be a chance to see what we have going on at our facility in Pinehurst and also how we use the animals to reach hurting children,” Moore said.
His wife and co-founder Lisa Moore said their nonprofit in 2017 alone visited with more than 5,000 kids and just completed its 60th“Wild Wish”.
Wild Wishes is their program that grants exotic animal encounters to children who have a terminal illness or have lost a parent or sibling.
“The exotic animal encounters help give hope to hurting children and we want people to see what we do and through this event find ways to connect with children in the community who we can help with our ministry,” Moore said.
Numerous organizations involved in wildlife conservation will be on hand to visit with families and share their knowledge.
