
Jimmie Gwendola “Gwen” Alborn, 98, of Orange, Texas, passed away on April 10, 2025, in Kirbyville, Texas.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Monday, April 14, 2025, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange. Officiating will be Reverend Sam Roe. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Orange.
Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., Monday, April 14, 2025, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.
Born in Center, Texas, on March 27, 1927, she was the daughter of Willie Elmer Sherrod and Gertrude Barton Sherrod. Gwen left behind a legacy of love, care, and dedication to her family. She was a remarkable woman who made an indelible mark in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her. Gwen pursued a career as a self-employed beautician for many years, where she became known not just for her skillful hands but also for her genuine warmth and kindness. Above all else, Gwen loved her family immensely, dedicating herself to their well-being and happiness. Her nurturing spirit and unwavering support created a sense of comfort and stability within her family, which they will forever cherish. Gwen’s life was a testament to the power of compassion and the importance of family bonds. She leaves behind a legacy that will be remembered fondly by all who knew her.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Willie and Gertrude Sherrod; her husband, Gus Alborn; her daughter, Carolyn Sue Jackson; her sister, Trubie Beebe; and her grandson, Scottie Schelintz.
She is survived by her son, J.W. Clark and wife, Cheryl; 4 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, family members and friends.
