The Celebration of Life for James “Jimmy” Henry will be held during a Funeral Mass, Saturday, January 11, 2024, at 10am, at St. Therese Catholic Church. Rites of Christian Burial will follow at Magnolia Memorial Gardens under the direction of Sparrow Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 8:30 until 9:30 am. A Rosary will be prayed at 9:30am.
James John Henry, known to many as “Jimmy”, was born March 16, 1944, in Lafayette, Louisiana. He was summoned by the Angel of Death on Tuesday, December 24, 2024, in Beaumont, Texas.
His family moving to Orange, Texas, “Jimmy” graduated from Emma H. Wallace High School.
Enlisting in the United States Army, he served 4 years, fought in the Vietnam Conflict and was Discharged With Honors.
He resided in Orange for many years before moving to California and ultimately moving back to Orange.
Relocating to San Francisco, he was employed by the U.S. Postal Service, the San Francisco Police Department Traffic division and San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency.
James J. Henry received his Associates of Arts degree from City College San Francisco.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Eva Henry, father, Joseph Henry, brother, Donald Henry and the mother of his children, Evelyn McNorton.
He leaves to cherish his memory 2 sons, , Robert Scott (Patrice) of Chattanooga, Tennessee and Joseph Henry (Jasmin) of Manvel, Texas, 1 daughter, Tracy Henry of St. Petersburg, Florida, 1 sister, Rosella Gibson of Houston, Texas, 6 grandchildren, Cierra Mullins, Zhena Henry, Jessica Gaiter, Joseph Bethune, Natasha Scott, and Robert Scott, Jr., 5 great-grandchildren, nieces, Mona Richard (Herman), Donna Henry, and Juanita Henry and a host other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
