LCM 8 Bridge City 6 – The Lady Bears lead 8-0 after 2 innings thanks to a grand slam and 2 run homer by Tessa Erickson and a two run HR by Kinsley Doucet. The Cardinals started chipping away with 1 in the third, 3 in the fourth, and one in the fifth to make it 8-5. In the seventh BC’s Ella Droddy homered to make it 8-6 and Peyton Dupuis and Cambree LaComb followed that with singles to bring the go ahead batter to the plate. Kaylynne Christian hit a hard ball to right field and Embree Ewing was able to make a running catch and hold the runners. The next batter hit into a ground out to end the game.
“Man, what a game,” Coach Dena Adkins said. “I knew Bridge City was a good hitting team. (BC outhit the Bears 15-10) Thankfully we got off to a good start because they kind of took the momentum from us in the middle innings. We made some mistakes but we refocused, and although we didn’t score anymore runs, we were able to make the plays and hold off their charge. I’m really proud of our team tonight.”
Bears improve to 6-0 and the Cardinals fall to 5-1.
