
Weekly Fishing Report Week of November 1, 2023
Sam Rayburn
FAIR. Water slightly stained; 67 degrees; 6.02 feet below pool. The water temperature cooled, so expect the rattletrap bite for bass to begin. Some bass are feeding shallow biting topwaters, crankbaits, and spinnerbaits. Wacky worms along the edge of grass and pads will continue to catch fish as well. Crappie are starting to move towards the creek and in deep water. Catfish are chasing shad balls up the creeks. White bass are schooling with catches on slabs. Toledo Bend
FAIR. Water clear; 70 degrees; 4.20 feet below pool. After gusty winds and rain the water temperature is finally declining, so expect the fishing to improve. Bass are biting squarebill crankbaits and Texas rigs in the back of the creeks in 4-6 feet of water. Topwater lures and spinnerbaits bite should be good this weekend in 8-14 feet on the edge of the hydrilla grass. Main lake bass will be from 14-25 feet biting crankbaits, Carolina rigs and swimbaits. There were a few 8-9 pound catches last week, and the size should only improve after the weather passes. Few crappie coming on lighted docks in 14-20 feet of water with live minnows. SALTWATER
Sabine Lake
GOOD. 73 degrees. West winds in the forecast should drain the marshes flushing the bait and bringing redfish in Sabine Lake. The winds should lay heading into the weekend making for beautiful fishing conditions. Expect lots of bird action making long drifts beneath for redfish. Start with artificial baits then use live shrimp under a popping cork. Nice catches of speckled trout with a few redfish mixed on the points and drifting out from bayous with a quarter inch jig and five inch bait in any darker color. Redfish are good in the ICW on rocky banks and shell in 2-8 feet of water. ICW is holding lots of bait fish. Speckled trout are good drifting the flats near Pleasure Island Point in 3-6 feet of water. Bessie Heights Marsh producing several undersized catches of sheepshead and drum. Neches River ditches, drops and turnarounds are good for redfish. I10 Bridge producing limits of redfish off the points and shell banks near the Naval Fleet. The Naval Fleet is holding lots of bait fish so there are good catches of redfish and trout drifting with a popping cork and live shrimp. Bolivar
GOOD. 65 degrees. As cold fronts roll through the bite will slow before holding steady. The surf is holding numbers of black drum, shark, and some big redfish on cut bait or live bait on the bottom. The gulfside of the North Jetty is holding limits of trout, redfish, sheepshead with an occasional bull redfish against the rocks with live shrimp with popping cork. The cuts leading in the bay from ICW holding redfish against shorelines by the rocks. Lots of black drum around Goat Island.
