The only thing forecasters are 100 percent sure of about the upcoming winter storm, is that it’s name is Fern.
The line of possibly damaging freezing rain continues to move around Southeast Texas. That line is of top concern, especially to anyone that went through the ice storm of 1997 in Orange County.
Wednesday afternoon the National Weather Service of Lake Charles released a map showing Orange County to have approximately 16 hours of below freezing temps starting Saturday evening.
A reminder that Power strips are not made for space heaters and should never be used with them because space heaters draw too much electricity, causing power strips to overheat, melt, and potentially start a fire. Fire safety experts strongly advise plugging space heaters directly into a wall outlet for safe operation.
