Just before 6pm Sunday, Orange County Emergency Services District #4 was called to a train on fire on the track that runs parallel to FM 1130 in Mauriceville.
Chief 2 James Journeay said when they arrived they found smoke coming from the secondary engine. The train was traveling through the area when it noticed the smoke. Coincidentally they came to a stop where a train derailed back in 2020.
Journeay said they had the fire put out in about 30 minutes and there were no injuries. Acadian and the Sheriff’s Department also responded to the scene.
