Saturday was a big day for Eddie Dyer and his family as he was inducted into the Southeast Texas Coaches Association Hall of Honor during their annual banquet in Beaumont.
Dyer graduated from LCM and played college ball at McNeese before going into coaching. He had several stops before joining the staff at WOS where he made his mark as the Offensive Coordinator, leading the Mustangs to some record years and four trips to the State Championship game.
Dyer thanked his family and the coaches that lead him and gave him opportunities to excel. Dyer retired in 2022 but has since joined the LCM staff as an assistant coach under Eric Peevey.
Dyer was understandably emotional during his speech, and said afterwards to KOGT, “That was tougher than calling plays in the State Championship.”
Dyer was joined in the Class of 2026 with Willie Wilson, Bobby Woodard, and Ben Stewart.
They also named the Coaches of the Year in their respective sports. Bridge City had six honored including Josh Smalley (football), Chris Theriot (Asst. Football), Chad Landry (baseball), Larry Sterling (girls basketball), Paul Landry (soccer) and Richard Drouillard (tennis).
Orangefield had three coaches recognized. TJ Reed for tennis, Conner Wilbur for track and Kameron Humble for volleyball.
Hiawatha Hickman of WOS was honored for football, Deweyville’s Brandon Prouse for girls golf, and Rodney Burks for powerlifting at Vidor. You can see more photos on the KOGT Facebook Page
