A Texas Department of Criminal Justice correctional officer from Orange was arrested in Jefferson County after surveillance video captured him assaulting an inmate.
Maleki St. Julien, 23, was booked on February 10 on a charge of official oppression.
St. Julien was observed on video in January talking to an inmate before hitting him in the head. The two continued fighting until they were pulled apart.
St. Julien had been employed with the TDCJ since November 2023.
