
The Celebration of Life for Mr. C. W. Simmons, 85, of Orange, will be Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at the Mount Calvary Baptist Church. Viewing will be Saturday morning from 10:00 am until 11:00 a.m. at the church.
He died May 4, 2025, at Horizon Hospice in Beaumont, TX.
A native of Hemphill, TX, he resided in Orange for 65 years. During his working years, he worked as a boilermaker at the local shipyard, retiring after decades of service.
He was a faithful member of Mount Calvary Baptist Church for many years, where he also served as an usher.
Mr. C. W. Simmons was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Mrs. Sherley Netherly Simmons; children, Ms. Burummie Simmons, Mrs. Beverly Netherly Hardin, and Mr. Ricky Simmons; parents, Mr. Alvoid Simmons and Mrs. Bertha Simmons; and siblings, Mr. Preston Simmons, Mr. Lester Simmons, Mrs. Darlene Simmons Gaddis, and Mrs. Dorothy Jean Simmons Finley. He is survived by one brother, Mr. MacArthur Simmons of Austin, TX; grandchildren, Dr. Felicia Hardin Lewis of Atlanta, GA, and Mr. Reginald Hardin of Norfolk, VA; one great grandchild, Ms. Lauryn Lewis of Atlanta, GA; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and loved ones.
