To become an Eagle Scout takes a commitment at an early age. You have to earn 21 badges and complete several projects by age 18. Some of our famous leaders are Eagle Scouts like Neil Armstrong, President Gerald Ford, Sam Walton, Bill Gates, Steven Spielberg, and Hank Aaron. Now you can add Ben Britnell to that list.
Britnell recently earned his Eagle Scout status as a member of Troop One in Orange, which has produced many Eagle Scouts over its 100 years.
“Ben is a leader and he’s going to do great things,” said Scoutmaster Sam Watters. “He’s service oriented and we’re very proud of his accomplishments.”
Britnell’s service project was the refurbishing of the Lions Club SnoCone stand that you see every year at the Carnival. It now has an engraved sign with his name on it that will remain with the building. You’ll be able to see it when the carnival opens May 13.
If you’re interested in joining the Scouts, Troop One meets at 7pm on Mondays at the VFW on Hwy. 87. Or you can also go to scouting.org
