Head Coach Jeff Breaux and the Orangefield Bobcats saw their season end Thursday night as they ran into a buzzsaw in the Franklin Lions. But it didn’t come without a fight from the Bobcats who end the season 9-3.
Franklin played on a short field most of the night which helped them score on their first five possessions.
They quickly took a 14-0 lead while the Bobcats were trying to find something that worked. OF would respond in the second quarter with 13 play drive and a Carson Gonzales to Rylan Agerton 16 yard pass to cut the lead in half.
But Franklin would steal the momentum on the next play from scrimmage with a 46 yd. touchdown run. OF would go three and out and Franklin would score three plays later and it was 28-7.
The Bobcats would start moving the ball thru the air and score on a 14 yd pass to Kyran Morrow, but again the Lions would strike four plays later from 48 yds. On the Bobcats next possession, they would be the one to strike quickly as Gonzales and Agerton would hook up from 71 yds. to make it 35-21 at the half.
The second half was more of the same. The Bobcats continued to play catch up because they couldn’t slow down the #1 Lions.
One of the craziest touchdowns of the season went to the Bobcats in the fourth quarter. After two penalties gave OF the ball at the 50, Gonzales launched a pass that appeared would be intercepted by Franklin. But as the player hit the ground the ball bounced off of him and Agerton caught it in the air and brought it to the end zone for what would be the Bobcats final touchdown of the season.
