Betty Jo was born on October 18, 1930, in Devil’s Pocket, one of eleven children born to Arbell (Van Pelt) and Lee Williams. She was married to her high school sweetheart, Willard Lee (Pete) Lavine, for 53 years until his passing. Betty Jo was a member of and taught Sunday School of all ages at Hartburg Baptist Church for over 50 years. As she got older, she enjoyed sitting on the back porch in the swing, visiting with family and friends, and telling others about the goodness of God.
